NEWCASTLE 'AS IT ONCE WAS'
NEWCASTLE 'AS IT ONCE WAS'
Part of the OLD NEWCASTLE SERIES, Newcastle 'As it Once Was' contains many landmarks from the city's past. Including landmarks from early 1900's Newcastle, this work shows the dramatic change the city has seen in the last century when compared with more modern works in the Newcastle range. It also shows the preservation of many buildings from our city's history, such as the Longworth Institute and Scott's Ltd Building, which have called Newcastle home from over 100 years each.
This work has an early camera texture overlay. The sepia tones and vignette adds an extra immersive element to the work, symbolic of the early 1900's landscape the work captures.
Work contains: (from left to right, top to bottom)
- SCOTT'S Ltd BUILDING (once the David Jones Building, now the QT Building),
- The ZAARA STREET POWER STATION (Built in 1915 and decommissioned in 1971, then demolished in 1978),
- BHP STEELWORKS BLASTER (Decommissioned in 1999),
- The LONGWORTH INSTITUTE (commissioned in 1891),
- TURKISH BATHS (located on Denison Street in Hamilton, demolished in 1961),
- BOROUGH MARKETS (located on Hunter St, constructed in 1870, demolished 1915),
- CHARLESTON STUDIOS (58 Hunter Street, replaced by the Rawson Hotel),
- TRAM LP284 (electric trams were decommissioned in 1940's and 50's),
- OLD POST BOX,
- NEWCASTLE FLYER 3801 (began service to Sydney in 1943, final trip in 1970),
- STATE DOCKYARD (open 1943, closed 1987),
- SYDNEY SOAP AND CANDLE COMPANY CRATES (located in Wickham in 1870).

from 30 reviewsA4 prints look great. Quick turn around from ordering to delivery, and well packed to prevent damage in the post.

I love it. It has all the symbols of the Cairo I visited. A great reminder of an amazing trip to Egypt

Good quality paper, excellent quality print. Very speedy delivery. Highly recommended.

Purchased as gifts. Great service, delivered to door with a smile by owner of business.

I purchased my Newcastle print on line and Edward was so helpful sorting out pre Xmas delivery for me. He organised and personally delivered the print to me at my apartment. This made the whole experience perfect as I didn’t have to worry about my framed print being damaged, left at the wrong address or stolen from my front door. The print reflects the view I now have from my new Harbourside apartment, I smile every time I look at it.

I am a Melbourne girl, born and bred. I love all the iconic places and buildings of the city. I couldn't decide on which one I loved the most so got the one which incorporated the three in one. I have put the framed poster in my entry and have had many complementary comments about it. Love it so much.

Although the image depicts an up to date HK there is still plenty of landmarks that remind us of the place we met back in the 80s.

I’ve recently purchased 5 different pieces from World Scape collective and they have been amazing to deal with. The images are beautifully printed and crisp and clear. Edward was brilliant with info when I mistakenly bought two the wrong size, supplying me with what to do andnsuch. Highly recommend these guys.

The set of prints cleverly features all of the local landmarks. The longer you look at them, the more you see. I’m very proud to be a Novocastrian and looking at the prints truly pleases me.

It was a gift for my daughter, who is very fussy but she loved it

Excellent quality print looks amazing framed on my walls. A little touch of home

The picture is now hanging on a wall that has been crying out for something for the last few years. Having finally bought a frame and hung it, Liverpool looks really good. I believe it will be admired for many years to come.
Couldn’t be happier.

Bristol was our home for many years and your artwork captures it to a tee
I especially like the Banksy 🎈 very subtle.
