I had a great time visiting and then illustrating the beautiful city of Dubrovnik. I learnt that it was an independent state for nearly 800 years, and similar to Venice in its political structure, and at its peak maintained a fleet of over 350 trading vessels known as Karakas. Recently famous for its shooting locations in Game of Thrones, it has become a major tourist attraction in recent decades in Europe. Known for its well-preserved, walled old town, the city is a medieval time capsule, home to beautiful buildings and history.
